Scouts On The Web

Posted on Oct 7 2009 - 2:10pm

This Thursday’s Troop meeting will focus on “Scouts on the Web” and for us that will be our BSA Troop 214 Ning site, http://bsatroop214.ning.com. Our 24 current Ning members have been asked to work getting their Patrol Members “invited” into Ning so we can work at the meeting setting up Patrol Groups and becoming acquainted with the Ning site. So, if you get an “invite to Ning” respond if you can before you come to the meeting. If you have a wireless pc you may want to bring it for your patrol to work with. You can also bring a digital head & shoulder photo of yourself and other photos your patrol you would like to post. You can see our goal by visiting the Senior Penguins Group at our Ning site. If you have questions contact aaron.scherling11490@gmail.com or steven.scherling@214.com, 297.0957.

Philmont Speaker

Posted on Oct 7 2009 - 2:03pm

The Philmont speaker will be come on Sunday at 6:30 Oct. 11th rather than Sept. 24th. The reason for the change is we would like to have all scouts and parents come if at all possible and this Thursday there is the kick off for the homeless and hungry kickoff event that involves some of the boys confirmation service. Another conflict is the football practices prevent other boys from coming to the speaker this Thursday.

Photography Merit Badge

Posted on Oct 7 2009 - 1:56pm

On September 24 the Photography Merit Badge will be conducted. You can go to our T214 website MENU and click on Links, then Photography Merit Badge and follow instructions to print out and begin work in the Photography Worksheet. To get ready for the badge, we will be posting Photos Of The Week. Participants will get gift certificates for enlargements and the top photos will hang in the Troop’s Photo Gallery on site and online. Take some photos this week, email one to Aaron and he will post it for you. Be sure to list photo title, place and date taken, and photographer's name - see the photos posted in Photos Of The Week September 10, 17, and 24. Set your camera to highest quality and begin shooting.

This merit badge will make use of the intenet and will flow into the October 8 Troop meeting, Scouts on the Web. Parents, your help in getting into and using our T214 website will be appreciated. You can go to MENU, click Links, then Photography Merit Badge to get started. Any questions email

Court of Honor

Posted on Sep 13 2009 - 11:23pm

Thanks for a great Court of Honor. Andrew H. did a wonderful job setting it up and running the show. All the merit badges that were earned show lots of hard work...It took Ken 45 minutes to sign them all!.
